Welcome to Rights In Action Incorporated (RIA)
Established in August 2001, our organization is committed to providing unwavering advocacy for individuals with disabilities in Cairns, Yarrabah, Atherton, and Mareeba.
We are proudly funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services under the National Disability Advocacy Program, along with support from the State Government Department of Communities, Disability Services and Seniors, and Queensland Health.
At RIA, we champion the rights of people with disabilities by offering independent advocacy to safeguard their human rights and combat instances of discrimination, abuse, neglect, and exploitation. We stand strong with individuals who have been taken advantage of or have experienced rights violations due to their disabilities.
Moreover, our advocacy extends to supporting those who may encounter additional disadvantages, such as racial discrimination and social isolation within society.
As part of our mission, we are also dedicated to assisting people with National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) appeals. If someone is dissatisfied with their NDIS plan or NDIA decisions, we are here to lend a helping hand.
