Staying connected and engaged with other grass-roots community organizations is essential for RIA to provide effective Advocacy to people with disabilities who are often affected by the failure of more than just one support system.
During the official opening of the Birch Street Community Hub in Manunda on 29 July 2025, RIA Advocates had the opportunity to view the purpose-built space, have valuable dialogues and sharing inspiring ideas with Uniting Care and many other community organizations about working together to support the most vulnerable people in our community.
Our Advocates shared which supports RIA can provide to different demographics and how easy it is to request support via our website or simply by calling our office. In return, we learnt of other supports that RIA clients could access if required.
The event was also an opportunity to connect with Councilor Rob Pyne and Member for Cairns Michael Healy and discuss the invaluable support RIA is providing to people with disabilities and mental health conditions in Cairns and FNQ.
